Rave 91/92 Mix - bside [Apr. 16th, 2006|11:19 am]

[mood |happyhappy]
[music |1992_-_042805_Its_Spring_Again.mp3]

Its like it never went away.

2. "Who Is Elvis?" - Interactive - 91
3. "Oral Surgery" - Major Problems - 91
4. "Raving Lunatic" - Audio Assault - 92
5. "Daze of Reality (Wishdokta Mix)" - Twin Bass - 92
6. "The Gun (I See It Around Me)" - Nino - 92
7. "When I Pump The Bass" - Frankie Bones - 92
8. "My Own" - DJ Seduction - 92

12. Untitled Side B - The Energizer - 91
13. "Higher Now" - DJ Seduction - 92
14. Untitled Side A - The Energizer - 91

Right, now, before you go downloading this one willy nilly, just make sure you're aware of a couple of things. Its definately not my best mix for a number of reasons.

Firstly, I transfered these pieces of vinyl to CD and mixed them there and the records themselves are NOT in the best of condition - as you will hear.

Secondly, I havent mixed oldschool for a while and my style has changed dramatically in the last ten to fifteen years! Also, there's a dud mix toward the end that I left in.

Happy re-raving.

Upfront House Mix 01_10_03 - bside [Mar. 28th, 2006|10:58 pm]

[mood |cheerfulcheerful]
[music |The Stand - Stephen King VHS]

Another bside mix. This time, an upfront house mix. If anyone is afraid of tough beats welded to actual melodies and the occasional wailing diva, give this a wide berth :)

Upfront House Mix - bside

Filtered disco, underground big beats and skippy house drums are the order of the day in this one.

I dont have the tracklisting on me at the moment, but Im sure I will get to it one of these days.

This one was done on the CDJ800's when they were just brand new, so there is bound to be a few flubbety bits in there, but overall it stands up. Very live.

Bleep & Fuzz - bside [Mar. 28th, 2006|10:49 pm]

[mood |calmcalm]
[music |nothing at the moment]

Since I started this, I may as well be the first entry:

bside's Bleep & Fuzz Mix

A cloudy mix of house, electro, techno and breaks.

For most of my DJing life (about 15 years) Ive leaned toward the bleepy side of things, and now it seems that popular opinion has caught up with me (or the other way around. Minimal is now the big thing and squelchy analogue, acid noises are big. Im kinda chuffed about that.

Anyhow, I thought Id put together a mix that reflected that side of what Im playing at the moment.

1 Acid Sex (88 Evil Baron Mix) - A Jackin Phreak
2 One Too Many (Main Mix) - Chris Lake
3 Rubber Robot (Original) - Pilgrims of the Mind
4 Open Your Eyes (Luke Dzierzek Remix) - Spencer Parker
5 Maybe Not (Original) - bgb
6 Pleasure Seeker (Original) - Electrochemie
7 Da Revival (David Duriez & Llorca Mdlm Remix) - Hardfloor
8 Robophobia (Original) - James Zabiela
9 A Guy Called Jack (Samim & Michal Mix) - DJ T
10 Issst (Nathan Fake Remix) - Tiefschwarz
11 Bling (John Aquaviva’s Electro Funk Dub) - John Aquaviva & Madox
12 Wait & See (Alter Ego Mix) - Tiefschwarz
13 Not So Dirty (Steve Angelo Mix) - Who’s Who
14 EyeAMComputer (Original) - James Zabiela
15 Mandarine Girl (Original) - Booka Shade

Its big (81.2MG) so dont attack it if you're on dial up. I suppose that you wouldnt be contemplating it if you were on dial up anyhow.

Im a CD jock - no vinyl. CDJ800's through a Behringer DJX700.

Hope you like.

Sixup Mixup - bside [Mar. 28th, 2006|10:48 pm]

[mood |busy]
[music |Dawn Of The Dead - DVD Commentary version]

This is a mix I put together a while ago to showcase some of the stuff Id been working on at the time. Every one of the six tracks is either one of my originals or one of my remixes.

"Sixup Mixup" - bside

1. Rak (bside Main Room Mix) - Junk Science
2. Given (12" Original) - bside
3. B1 (bside B2 Remix) - Stuart
4. Housebound Foundation Volume 1 - bside
5. Smoke Exercise - bside
6. Travelogue (bside Rocking Bed Remix) - Junk Science

The mix was produced in Pro Tools as I was waiting on my decks at the time and I had all the original files - so why not.

The style is progressive house. Reminiscent of Sasha, Danny Tenaglia and John Digweed. Hey, thats what I was producing at the time. So lots of lush, big room sounds, breakdowns and gratuitous reverb. Ive since moved on a bit from this style, but I think this mix is a nice snapshot of where I was at the time.
